With all the police trade-in Smith & Wesson M&P 45 handguns floating around on the market, I have been pretty tempted to pick one up as a suppressor host. With the used guns on the market at around $350, adding a threaded barrel from Silencerco or another vendor is easy and keeps the whole package under the $600 mark.
Silencerco M&P 45 Threaded Barrel – $167.99 at Brownells
Silencerco has been building the threaded barrels for popular Glock models, the VP9, and the 9mm variant of the M&P for a while now with good results. Users seem to be reporting increased accuracy with little to no decrease in reliability.
The new barrel is spec’d out to offer a drop-in solution for just about any common .45 suppressor on the market. Made from 416R stainless steel and coated with black nitride, the new threaded barrel should be as good, if not better than the barrel that came in your M&P.
