Palmetto State Armory | SHOT Show 2020

Always a friend to the budget minded, Palmetto State Armory had several new products on display during SHOT Show 2020.

PS9 Dagger

This one was a surprise to me. The PS9 Dagger is Palmetto State Armory’s take on the Glock 19. Compatible with all Gen 3 parts, the PS9 Dagger seems to remedy many of the complaints people have about OEM options. The guide rod is stainless steel, adding a bit of weight to tame muzzle flip. The barrel features standard rifling, with a recessed crown. Sights are Trijicon night sights, offering a better picture in low light conditions. Triggers are hinged, similar to FN and Smith & Wesson pistols. The frame has been contoured to be more ergonomic, with cutouts for the magazine release. Trigger guards are undercut for a high grip, and a single finger groove adorns the front strap. A slight cutout has been made in the magazine well to help strip mags.

PSA is offering an optics ready model as well. This comes with Trijicon suppressor height night sights from the factory. The gun is milled for an RMR footprint. Currently there are no options for other footprints, with nothing in the works to change this.

The PS9 Dagger retails for $299 in standard configuration, and under $400 for optics ready. The guns will be available in March.

ARV

The Palmetto State Armory ARV combines the ergonomics of the AR-15 with the magazine of the AKV. The gun is a straight blow back PCC, chambered for 9mm. Large changes from the standard 9mm AR are the paddle magazine release, and CZ Scorpion magazine compatibility. PSA is offering barrel lengths in 4, 7.5, 8.5, and 16 inches.

The Palmetto State Armory ARV will be available this summer. Pricing will be similar to PSA’s other premium ARs.

PSA5

PSA5 is Palmetto’s take on the MP5. The PSA5 uses a new polymer lower, and include a magpul handguard out front. these use all standard MP5 parts, including trigger groups. PSA is working alongside CMC to release an upgraded trigger for the PSA5.

The PSA5 will be available in November. MSRP should be in the $1,150 range.

JAKL

The JAKL (pronounced Jackal) is PSA’s new AR style rifle in .300 Blackout. Using a long-stroke gas piston, avoids the need for a long buffer tube, allowing for the use of folding braces and stocks. The gas system has 3 adjustable positions, for standard, suppressed, and single shot use. Aluminum handguards feature two MLOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. The barrel is 7.5 inches, with a 1/8 twist for use with subsonic loads. The example on hand weighed roughly 5.5 pounds, with the final design being promised to weigh under 6. Iron sights will be included with the gun, but no decision has been made on what make or model.

There are plans in the works to bring options in 5.56×45 with a 10.5″ barrel, as well as a 9mm version. No release date or price point for these versions was given.

The Palmetto State Armory JAKL will be available in late August. MSRP will be between $700-900.
