Today Brownells officially unveiled their new BRN-180 lower receivers. These combine the aesthetics of the retro AR-180 with the functionality of a modern AR-15. Shooters can use all of their normal triggers, magazines and more. I was able to put a few rounds down range with a BRN-180 pistol during Range Day, and it is a sweet shooter. One of the biggest draws is the lack of a buffer tube which allows the use of a wide variety of folding stocks and braces. A small segment of picatinny rail along the rear of the receiver mates to your preferred stock.
Two models of the Brownells BRN-180 lower are being released; the “M” billet variant, and a standard forged model. The M version will be available this February and has an MSRP of $129.99. The standard model releases in November with an MSRP of $149.99.
