One of the major lacking factors in most people’s EDC is effective medical gear. Over the past decade I’ve seen a huge uptick in the number of people carrying a tourniquet, which is a great improvement. Unfortunately, the tourniquet is not the magic cure to traumatic injuries that some people make it out to be. Carrying a TQ alone sets us up for failure when it comes to injuries to something other than a limb. Luckily, we’re seeing another development, with more robust, EDC focused, medical equipment coming to market. One of the newest additions is the RWT Pocket Kit from Jonathan Willis.
The Real World Trauma (RWT) Pocket Kit is a pocket sized medical kit designed to treat injuries that are beyond the abilities of the tourniquet. Jonathan sent me a sample to evaluate recently, and so far I’ve been very pleased. It fits in the front pocket of both shorts and jeans without being bulky or obtrusive, while still holding a reasonable supply of medical equipment. Look for a full review of this kit in the future here on Primer Peak.
MSRP on the RWT Pocket Kit is $59.99 as of this writing. You can check out the details >>HERE<< , and read more below for words directly from the product page. Additionally, check out THIS video from Jonathan for a breakdown on each component of this medical kit.
The RWT POCKET KIT was designed by Jonathan Willis to fill the tremendous void in practical carry options for true trauma adjuncts beyond the simple tourniquet. Starting with three foundational components he felt were his critical needs, he then sourced the smallest, and best options available on the market. Next came the carry method. He tried multiple pouches available on the market the were either to large or to small, that was unsatisfactory. He sourced a manufacturer in Wisconsin who would build a pouch to the exact dimensions of the three selected components to insure a true pocket kit. Carried in conjunction with your preferred tourniquet, there is FINALLY a real pocket trauma kit option……the RWT POCKET KIT.
Each RWT POCKET KIT includes:
* Each pouch is hand made in the USA, and each pack of gauze is individually vacuum sealed. Understand that some variability may exist between products.
Author’s Note: This RWT Pocket Kit was provided to me at no cost for purposes of evaluation and feedback. No expectation of media coverage was provided by either party.
