Palmetto State Armory AK-V | Big 3 East

Palmetto State Armory brought one of their recently revised AK-V pistols to test during Big 3 East 2019. The AK-V is a large format AK pistol chambered in 9×19. The gun ships with a 35 round CZ Scorpion pattern magazine, furniture is from Magpul and the pistol is equipped with a SBA3 arm brace. Check out this video for a summary of all the updates PSA made to the AK-V.

The AK-V’s railed dust cover hinges at the front, simplifying reassembly and helping optics maintain zero. Irons are non adjustable for windage, but the front sight can be adjusted for elevation. Magazines insert straight into the magwell and lock the action open on empty. The magazine release is enlarged, making ambidextrous activation a breeze. I was able to release magazines by pressing forward with my trigger finger, but shooters with shorter fingers may not be so lucky. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 and is capped off by a two port muzzle brake.

I fired over 100 rounds through the PSA AK-V with no hiccups, easily engaging targets out to 100 yards. Throughout the course of the week 3,000 rounds were run through the AK-V without a single malfunction according to the Palmetto State Armory reps. As it stands now, the AK-V has my attention. It is a blast to shoot, pun intended; being one of my favorite PCCs to date. If the changes implemented solve previous problems in the long term, then the AK-V will be a great option for those jumping into the PCC market.

The Palmetto State Armory AK-V on display at Big 3 East has an MSRP of $729.99 and is currently available for purchase HERE.
