This year marked the 75th anniversary of WWII to honor those great service men and women who sacrificed everything Winchester releases WWII themed ammo in .30-06, .30 carbine, .45 ACP, and high brass 12 gauge 00 buckshot.
We only had the .30-06 Springfield and the .45 ACP on hand for testing though since the .30 Carbine and 12 gauge will be released in 2019.

Today I compare actual 30-06 ammo dated 1943 to Winchester’s recently released Victory Series .30-06 Springfield.
We are going to use an M1 Garand and an M1903 to shoot the ammo across the chronograph.
Unlike most commercial ammunition, the Victory series .30-06 if a much better choice for collectors due to its period correct loading. Specifically, the M1 Garand would normally need an adjustable gas block, but that isn’t required with the Victory Series ammunition.
The cases are marked with period correct attributes, the 45 Auto is even marked M1911. I do love the red white and blue box display cases which would be at home on any fireplace mantel. The wooden boxes are embossed with unique historical facts and scenes.
The box says that the .30-06 Springfield will launch a 150-grain bullet at 2,740fps, the .45 ACP is supposed to do 855fps with a 230-grain bullet.
If you collect older firearms or ammunition from World War II, the WWII Victory Series ammunition is sure to meet your needs on the range or as a conversation piece. Not only is the limited edition ammo only going to be made for a short while, but it is also sure to shoot well in military surplus firearms.
