Inforce, one of the most widely known weapon light makers, released their latest design today; the WILD2. The WILD2 is a weapon mounted light designed for use on pistols. This is the successor to the popular APL line from Inforce. Like anything tactical, WILD is an acronym. This one means: Weapon Integrated Lighting Device. I’m assuming “2” is from the two batteries the WILD uses for power, which leaves room for a single battery version in the future.
Inforce is integrating customer feedback into this latest design while maintaining their iconic aesthetic. Output is generous at 1,000 lumens and 25,000 candela, blowing away previous offerings. Two CR123 stacked batteries provide 1.5 hours of power. WILD2 light bodies are made from aluminum, replacing the legacy polymer design.
WILD2 switches are the familiar digital paddles seen in previous APL lights. Varying taps offer momentary, constant, and strobe modes. Unlike old lights, the switches live on a rear-mounted battery compartment. This could potentially lead to additional variations on switching with new battery doors.
Interestingly, Inforce has discontinued the entire APL line of lights. Hopefully we’ll see versions of the WILD2 to cover gaps in market coverage lost by this. Keep an eye out for updates on potential compact WILD lights in the coming weeks.
Inforce doesn’t have the greatest track record, but this light seems poised to rectify that.
The WILD2 features an MSRP of $179.99. Lights are available now >>HERE<<. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one and seeing what Inforce has to offer.
