Staff Picks – Our Best Articles of 2025

It’s that time of year once again! Every January we take a look back on the previous year, and reflect on our work. Each contributor get to choose their best article they wrote over the preceding 365 days, and give you, the reader, another swing at it. These are not always our most popular works, but they stand with the best. Here are Primer Peak’s Staff Picks, the best of 2025.

Ally Corless – Baby Wearing and Conceal Carry for New Mothers [2025]

“I not only enjoyed writing this article, but I also hope it’s a good resource to other conceal carrying parents and caregivers. When I first found out I was pregnant with Baby Primer Peak 1 I began searching for ways to conceal carry IWB and babywear from the very first days. I did not find much. There was some information for back carrying, but with a tiny preemie, that was a ways off for us. I needed to figure out the best ways to conceal carry with a small baby safely on my front, and I know many parents need to do the same. So the series Babywearing for New Moms and Parents was born.” – Ally

Dan Reedy – Conceal Carry Methods and Baby Wearing for New Parents [2025]

I published over 60 articles in 2025 on Primer Peak. That doesn’t include others that I scheduled for early 2026, or those that went live elsewhere. 2025 Wasn’t my biggest year of writing, but it certainly wasn’t my smallest either. With that in mind, I had a difficult time paring this down to a single choice. Ultimately it comes down to my first article about baby wearing and concealed carry, the companion piece to Ally’s article above.

This subject is an ongoing process for us as the children grow, changing how they are carried and how they interact with our bodies and equipment. There are virtually no resources for this online, and the few we are continually pointed to are lacking to say the least. While these certainly aren’t our most popular works, they’re probably some of our most important. Hopefully they can help keep you and your family safe, while also keeping you secure. Keep an eye out for more on this subject from us in the coming year!

Graham Haley – Invictus

Graham once again proves his might as one of our most entertaining writers. It’s not all Marshmallow fluff with him, as his nostalgic style is steeped in substance, coming from his training and real world experiences. It’s a pleasure every time one of his articles comes across my desk, and Invictus continues that trend.

Kourtney – Vehicle Emergency Kit Essentials [2025]

Kourtney has been a friend of mine for nearly two decades now. He’s spent a lot of time in the outdoors over the past few years and I’ve been pestering him to write something for us for nearly the entire time. While I’ve written about vehicle emergency kits in the past, Kourtney’s perspective is quite a bit different from my own, and his suggestions will surely help those who find themselves leaving the endless suburbia we often find ourselves in.

Luke B. – LEOSA and Legal Concealed Carry in New York

I first met Luke during a 3-Gun match back in 2016. Since then our paths have crossed every now again, both in competition and in a few classes. When he reached out to me with this article, I was immediately interested. It’s not often that you hear of someone making an attempt at legally carrying concealed in New York City, and his experience was a great resource. While this isn’t legal advice, it may help you know where to look and who to reach out to if you plan on taking a similar trip!

N. Austin – Jake Walker’s Performance Pistol Class AAR with Q&A [2025]

It was great having N. Austin return this year with another article. This is a good example of a hidden gem. While big name instructors like Tom Givens, Chuck Pressburg, and others often make our headlines, they’re not our only options. Often times there are incredible local shooters who can helps us grow without needing to travel or pay hundreds of dollars in tuition. Check out your nearby USPSA/IDPA/SCSA clubs, reach out to instructors to find other alumni, and more. You might find your next mentor lives right next door.

Paul Whaley – Federal FliteControl Vs. Hornady Critical Defense in the Beretta A300UP [2025]

“This article was a pretty big undertaking. It was a long, detailed article, but it was also a long, detailed video too. A lot of time and effort went into it, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.” – Paul

Sean B. – Aimpoint COA: First Impressions [2025]

I was very excited when Sean submitted this article, as it was one of the earliest pieces on the COA to hit. There aren’t many people online whose opinions I trust on things like this, and Sean makes the cut. While COAs are few and far between right now, this is one of the things that keeps my interest for when they return to market.

Thoughts on 2025 and Looking Forward to 2026

It was another solid year for Primer Peak! In 2025 we added two new writers with Kourtney and Luke, which is always great to see. A handful of articles became especially popular due to some controversy, which is never our goal, but views are views. We’ve once again managed to bring you consistently weekly content, or better for another consecutive year. As a team fully comprised of volunteers who write for the love of the game, that’s a win in itself.

We’re all looking forward to what 2026 will bring. If you’re interested in joining the team, reach out! What would you like to see from Primer Peak in the new year?
