One of the more unexpected things I saw at SHOT Show this year came from Colt Manufacturing. I took a stop by their booth during Range Day, and was pleasantly surprised to see one small change to a revolver. This change is the addition of an optic mounting plate to one of their Grizzly revolvers.
Colt Manufacturing SHOT Show
This plate replaces the rear sight, and according to their rep, is made in-house by Colt. The Vortex Defender-CCW was the optic of the day, which uses a Shield RMSc footprint. I was pleased to see the optic was zeroed, and found the reticle easy to find upon presenting the gun. Paul and I put a few cylinders through the Grizzly, and had no issues hitting targets past 50 yards. In addition to the Grizzly, Colt also had these plates mounted to an Anaconda. Compatibility should extend to others in the line with adjustable sights, though a complete list of compatibility wasn’t available during SHOT.
Per Colt, these optic plates should be available directly through Colt. No release date was provided as of this writing. MSRP is $79.00.
