Beretta 30X Tomcat – SHOT Show 2024

Beretta 30X Tomcat SHOT Show 2024

Late last year, Beretta announced they were discontinuing the Tomcat line of pistols. Not many people were upset, but those of us who love .32ACP were far from happy. All of us were in for a surprise when that death meant new life, in the form of the 80X Tomcat.

Beretta has taken to modernize the Tomcat using the new X line, much like with the Cheetah from last year. Guns have received several updates to make them more palatable by modern audiences. The magazine release is now behind the trigger guard, in a more typical position. Triggers are straight and flat, providing a modernized press. The trigger guard has also been reshaped and extended, allowing for gloved hands. Instead of flipping a lever to open the tip-up barrel, a small button is located just below the slide, pressing inward to load the pistol. On top of this, magazines are now slightly extended, upping capacity to 8 rounds of .32ACP.

Not satisfied with one model, Beretta also has versions of the 30X Tomcat with a threaded barrel. These versions come with suppressor height sights to help clear a can while maintaining accuracy. Curiously, they also had one model on display featuring a two-port compensator and a K-series optic mounted via the rear dovetail. While this Rolandito isn’t a standard offering, it certainly generated a lot of interest from attendees.

MSRP on the 30X Tomcat is $600. Expect them to be available near the end of Q1 to early Q2 of this year.

  1. My question is whether the new magazines have ANY compatibility with the older model Tomcats, or if those who own them need to pick up the old model magazines while they still can.

    • I asked and am awaiting confirmation. Due to changes in the magazine release location, my gut answer is no. There is possibility that the 30X magazines may work in the 3032 guns, but unconfirmed at this time. Will update as I get more information.
