New Streamlight Siege X USB Lantern

The new Streamlight Siege X USB that was just announced by Streamlight looks like one of those things that I would want to have a few stashed in cars as well as in the house just in case.

The tiny 4.35" tall lantern weighs in at only 6.8 ounces and will run off the included USB rechargeable 18650 battery or two CR123A batteries providing some flexibility in the power source.

With an MSRP of $75,  it is a touch more pricy than the older AA battery powered Siege lantern but does pump out more light at 325-lumen vs. the old 200-lumen model.

EAGLEVILLE, PA – Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting tools, introduced the Siege® X USB, a multi-function, ultra-compact USB rechargeable lantern with multiple lighting modes, including a forward flashlight setting. The new light, designed to work in a wide variety of tactical, outdoor, DIY and other applications, delivers up to 325 lumens in lantern mode and up to 300 lumens in its flashlight setting.

The Siege X USB features three different lighting modes: smooth lantern lighting; a red LED setting to preserve night vision; and a front spot light to use the lantern as a handheld flashlight. The lantern handle, as well as a D-ring at its base, allow users to easily hang the light for large area lighting needs.

“We designed the Siege X USB to give first responders, outdoor enthusiasts, technicians and others the ultimate in lighting versatility,” said Streamlight Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Michael F. Dineen, “The light functions as both a 360olantern that can be used stationary or hands-free, as well as a tactical handheld light. It also offers the convenience of USB rechargeability, and, because it weighs just under half a pound, it is easy to carry and store.”

Powered by a Streamlight 18650 USB battery, the Siege X USB includes a battery indicator built into the on/off button that flashes red when the battery needs to be recharged. The light also can accept two CR123A disposable lithium batteries when a recharging source is not at hand.

In lantern mode, multiple white LEDs provide high, medium and low settings, and deliver 325 lumens on high; in night vision mode, three red LEDs offer high and flash SOS settings. When operated as a flashlight, the lantern uses a single white power LED with two settings, providing up to 300 lumens. Run times range from 4.5 to 25 hours in lantern mode; 22 to 90 hours on the night vision setting; and 3.5 to 25 hours in flashlight mode.

The Siege X USB is 4.35 inches high and weighs 7.2 ounces (with the included 18650 USB). With CR123 batteries (not included), the light weighs 6.8 ounces.

Featuring tough polycarbonate thermoplastic construction with elastomer over mold, the Siege X USB is IPX7 rated for waterproof operation to one meter, and is impact resistance-tested to 2 meters. The D-Ring on the bottom is spring loaded to fold out of the way when not in use. An ergonomic handle makes the lantern easy to carry, and is designed to hook onto any edge or bar.

Available in Coyote, the Siege X USB has an MSRP of $75.00. The lantern includes Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
